On our way out of La Ventana, before a big stretch of desert, we picked up Carlos and Sofia carrying their belongings and gallons of water! We gave them a lift and learned he is from Columbia and she from Chile, the two South American countries we want to visit the most! We were on our way to pick up our favorite garlic bread in El Triunfo so they came along. We shared some bread before we dropped them off at a friend's house and they gave us each a bracelet they make and sell to partially fund their travels. Hopefully we reconnect in SA someday!

We met Fabio + Marriette as we were about to descend into Lago de Atitlan, Guatemala. You can read about our adventures together here. Fabio is from Italy and said he came to Lago de Atitlan for two weeks, ten years ago. When we met Marriette, she was finishing up her thesis and traveling for several weeks throughout Central America. 

From Melbourne, Australia, Pat has hitchhiked, sailed and bussed all the way up from Argentina. We met him on our search for wind and waves in Salina Cruz, Mexico. Read about our time together here.
